More walking, more talking and more people!

admiring the the view in St Dennis

Week 2 of our photography walks and we were very excited to welcome some new faces.  It could have been the glorious winter sunshine, the shout out on Radio Cornwall or the fact that this week’s walk leader, Stephen wanted “to get everyone in St Dennis out for a walk!”.

Whilst Stephen’s mission may have seemed a tad ambitious, his enthusiasm was infectious as he proudly shows us his village. Recently diagnosed with vascular dementia Stephen knows the importance of getting exercise and fresh air when it comes to sleeping better and feeling calm. He is also keen to show people that dementia isn’t something to shy away from, instead it should bring communities together.

We know that joining a group of strangers for an activity can be pretty daunting for anyone let alone those with dementia, and I think its safe to say there were a few nerves before this week’s walk however once we got walking conversations flowed, nerves calmed and we even managed to take a few photos.

We’ve decided to do next week’s walk (29th Jan) in St Dennis again so join us at ClayTAWC at 10am, all welcome, no need to book just turn up.
